Transforming the V&A
Graphic Design Transforming the V&A is about to introduce the collections of the museum itself to the world especially for people who are unfamiliar with it. We decided to use the theme of 'TRANSFORMING THE V&A”, which is not from the evolution of the museum itself. However “TRANSFORMING THE V&A” was used instead to let people know what are the compilations of collections available in V&A museum. Whenever people look in detail of the design, each alphabet of the word “TRANSFORMING THE V&A” represents different collections available in the museum. For this concept, there are two different treatments of photo-masking that were used in each letter. The first one, the image will be shaped as its particular alphabet. For the second one it will be quite different, as lines are used to form its respective alphabet, therefore it will not be recognizable in detail from distant. However, the detailed image will be revealed for pedestrians that passed by in close range of the hoarding. This treatment is also made in relation to the main concept of the museum, as stated by Amanda Lafayette, who is the designer for the future plan of V&A’s new space. “Make the Invisible Visible” is the basic idea of the new space itself |
